Introducing ACD.net's SpringFieldNet!
"Springfield Net", the City of Springfield's Wi-Fi network will be available in some areas on June 1st, and the entire city in July 2008 Springfield residents and businesses can do an early sign up beginning March 3rd, to make certain that they are first in line to use the service.
While Springfield Net will cover the entire outside area of the City of Springfield, availability of the signal inside buildings will vary based on the layout of the buildings, and construction materials used in the buildings. Organizations whose Internet use is mission critical can sign up for ACD.net DSL or T1 service and will be provided a no charge Springfield Net account.
Monthly fees will vary according to type of user, income and bandwidth (speed of access). The following table shows the rates.

Note 1: Residents who elect to subscribe to ACD "wired" DSL service may use the wireless at no charge, plus each DSL subscription includes one ACD dial-up account.
Note 2: Commercial & Other Non-Social Agencies that subscribe to ACD "wired" (DSL, T1, etc) services will each have a given number of wireless accounts based upon the service type and level, plus each DSL subscription includes one ACD dial-up account. (We will provide a schedule).

Businesses may pay by credit card, or will be invoiced monthly. Residential users will need a valid credit card for payment, or may pay by check, and will receive invoices via email.
Early users should note that there may be brief periods of service interruptions or slow downs after the start of service due to the fine turning of the Wi-Fi equipment and antennas for maximum performance.
